Evangelism is the Christian discipline of telling people about God's love for them and how Jesus died to atone for their sin against God. It is telling people that they have offended a Holy God and stand before Him as condemned sinners. It is sharing with people that through faith in Christ they can be saved from the penalty of sin and avoid an eternity of eternal separation from God. This "good news" can only, and must, be understood in context of the bad news. God is holy, man is sinful, Christ is savior, and a response is necessary for salvation. This is the essence of the gospel message.
