Casey Jacobs
Elder
I was born and raised here in Toledo, Ohio and for the past 20 years I have served in the healthcare profession as a Nurse Anesthetist. When the Lord saved me in 1995, he gave to me a passion for missions and discipleship… proclaiming Christ, admonishing and teaching every man with all wisdom, in order to present every man mature or complete in Christ (Colossians 1:28). By His grace, God has provided me with a robust education and many opportunities to serve others on medical missions and through gospel ministry.
The Lord led my wife and I to Bethany in 2018, where we have been blessed to be a part of a genuine loving community of faith. My wife, Michelle, and I have been married since 1998 and we have four teen-aged children who keep us busy in the Sylvania community. I enjoy watching sports, playing board games, spending time with friends and family, visiting the beach, and reading history and theology books. In addition to serving as an Elder, I am involved in teaching Youth & Young Adults, as well as providing oversight for the church’s local and global missions ministry.
God’s Word In My Life
I believe that God meets us where we are, but He desires that we do not remain there. In his letter to the Church in Philippi, the Apostle Paul wrote:
“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus… Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that all will hear of you, that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the sake of the gospel. (Philippians 1:6, 27)
From the moment of justification by faith in Jesus Christ, God has ordained to sanctify those whom He has called to be His children. As believers, according to the work of the Holy Spirit within us, we are called to partner in that process and to strive for spiritual growth and maturity that upholds the truth of the gospel, as a testimony to the church and to a lost and dying world.
